For security reasons, many installations have the need to force
off user that have been idle for some amount of time, assuming
that they have left their terminal. Other functions such as
ensuring RSCS links are operational or specific required virtual
servers are looged on are also required by many installations.
the TUNEFRC ESAMON macro has been provided to you for the

Features and Functions
Forcing Idle Users
Thresholds can be set defining idle users that will then be
forced off. An exclude list is provided to ensure your important
servers are not forced even if they are idle.
Server Availability
A list of servers can be provided that will be checked each minute
to ensure they are logged on.
RSCS Link Availability
RSCS Links can be checked each minute to ensure they are operational.
RSCS Queue Backlog
RSCS Nodes can be checked to determine if the number of files currently
in the queue are within acceptable limits.
RSCS may be in the process of receiving, sending, waiting to send,
or holding these files.
Threshold Alerts
Thresholds can be implemented and a message sent to an operator or
an external EXEC can be imlemented to respond to thresholds.
Looping User Detection
Looping users can be defined and when detected can have their
relative shares lowered, the share capped, or be forced off the system.
An exclude list capability is provided.
There is also an extensive
ALERT feature that allows
an operator to be alerted when installation defined
thresholds are exceeded. This feature is capable of
initiating action intended to notify individuals of the situation
or attempting to correct a potential problem, such as XAUTOLOGging
missing servers. Thresholds
can be defined based on any data available to ESAMON.
